Ramadan

Ramadan is the name Muslims use for their fasting month. I love Ramadan. The idea behind fasting is beautiful. In Ramadan we should reduce our food intake and dedicate a lot of time for spiritual reflection. During the fasting month we should stop all the things that gives us joy from sunrise to sunset. The reason behind stopping anything that gives us joy is to humble ourselves, to feel the life of those unfortunate, and to practice patience to the limit.

All the above is not as important to me as the spiritual reflection and the patience that I practice during this month. I am an inquisitive person and my spiritual journey in Ramadan is very unique and challenging as I dive deep info a lot of conversation with God exploring my spirit and questioning every little aspect of life.

On social media I noticed that people are just busy greeting each other, going to parties dressed up in ‘Ramadan-fit-clothes’ (Fancy cultural Arabic dresses), trying to beat one another in whos show will win this Ramada. I would give them a big fail on what this month is about.

I would tell you today and every day of Ramadan, happy generous Ramadan to you. I wish you a strong mind and a very merciful heart. Do not forget your neighbor, the weak, and those unfortunate who don’t have enough. Try to help someone even if it was with one cup of water, a good word, or a smile. In addition the most important thing to be, be KIND

  1. I agree with you. People do not really experience the truth of Ramadan anymore. This ritual has been over commercialized.
